Crude Oil Price Movements : The OPEC Reference Basket in October sustained the downward trend, which has prevailed since late September. While the Asian market soaked up more sweet crude, which widened the sweet/sour spread amid ample Mideast supply, the western market focused on arbitrage opportunities due to growing uncertainty over oil demand with several refineries remaining closed. The bearish sentiment persisted into the first week with US administration stating that it would tap its SPR for crude and heating oil if necessary. More...

Hawiyah NGL Project Launched 
Saudi Aramco's Hawiyah Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) Project Has been Launched, which will add hundreds of thousands of barrels of petrochemical feedstock daily to the industrial cities of Jubail on the Arabian Gulf and Yanbu' on the Red Sea. The massive construction project is a team effort of Saudi Aramco and contractors Snamprogetti, JGC, General Dynamics, Yokogawa, GE Nuevo Pignone and several in-Kingdom contractors,

DNO Strats Drilling of Tawke # Well in Northern Iraq 
DNO announced that commencement of drilling of its first well within the Kurdish Region of Northern Iraq has been confirmed. The well named Tawke # 1 has now been spudded and is planned to be drilled to a total depth of approximately 3,000 meters. The drilling is expected to take 60 days and there are identified three 
prospective reservoir zones in this highly prospective structure.

Gaz de France Acquires Offshore Acreage in Mauritania
Gaz de France and the British firm Dana Petroleum also signed an agreement to exchange exploration and production assets. By this agreement, Gaz de France acquires an interest in three Mauritanian offshore exploration blocs (24% of bloc 1, 27.85% of bloc 7 and 17.5% of bloc 8). The Group has thus locked in a significant position in a region in which the considerable potential in terms of gas reserves offers sound prospects for development as of 2012/2014. More...
