Ibn Zahr, Saudi European Petrochemical Company (an affiliate of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation - SABIC) has signed a letter of intent with Aker Kvaerner for the provision of program management services and basic engineering services, for its Ibn Zahr Polypropylene III project, located at its existing site in Al-Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Shell and Bechtel complete sale of InterGen
Shell Generating (Holding) B.V. a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell plc ("Shell"), together with Bechtel Enterprises Energy B.V., yesterday completed the previously announced sale of InterGen NV to a partnership between AIG Highstar Capital II L.P. and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan for $1.75 billion. RasGas WHP5 Begins Production
RasGas recently announced the commencement of gas production from its offshore Wellhead Platform 5 (WHP5) located at Ras Laffan's 'B' block, according to a press statement issued by the company. WHP5 represents another major addition of 4.7 metric tonnes per annum (MTA) to the existing 11.55MTA production resource base of RasGas. BP Makes Eighth Oil Discovery in the Ultra-Deep Water Block 31 Angola
Sociedade Nacional de Combust? veis de Angola (Sonangol) and BP announced the 'Astraea-1' oil discovery in ultra-deepwater Block 31, offshore Angola. Astraea-1 is the eighth successful discovery BP has drilled in Block 31, following Plutao, Saturno, Marte, Venus, Ceres, Palas and Juno. Senate probes N280bn Halliburton contract
The Senate has launched a probe into the $2 billion (about N280 billion) gas to liquid project awarded by the Chevron/NNPC joint venture to Halliburton, the American-based multinational service company that was recently accused of paying $180 million bribe to past Nigerian officials. Besides, the Senate investigation under the aegis of its Committee on Upstream Petroleum, is also focusing attention on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC’s) utilisation of the 450,000 barrels of crude allocated to it daily for domestic utilisation.
