The Knowledge and Information Management Section was developed by the PETRONAS Petroleum Management Unit in April 2004 to support the new business direction, to build new capabilities and also to address large movement of people in the new organisation. This presentation describes the short and long term strategies and the implementation efforts in building knowledge management culture and practices in the unit. The KM plans include building a culture of learning and teaching, building network of experts and developing several new fit-for-purpose information systems. Along the way, the PMU has been able to spearhead a more concerted effort towards KM in the PETRONAS Group.
